The Arakan Army (AA) said at the fourth press conference held today that there is no plan to hold talks with the terrorist military.
“We have yet to see a credible situation where we can meet.”, the AA’s spokesperson Khaing Thukha said.
He also said that he is closely monitoring the fruitful results of some of the organizations that held talks with the terrorist military leader, and has not seen any encouraging results so far.
Some observers of the Arakan issue said that although the AA had not previously responded to the invitation of the terrorist military leader to the political talks, now it has been officially announced that there is no meeting yet, and it will be difficult for them to hold a meeting.
”As the AA is a revolutionary group, it is natural not to hold dialogue with terrorists. And also, after the formal discussion with the NUG, I noticed that the military has become more strict with the AA. Now that the tension between the two sides is increasing so much, it is no longer easy for them to meet and discuss.”, an observer of Rakhine affairs told the MPA.
The Arakan Army (AA) and the National Unity Government (NUG) had an online meeting on the morning of May 16.
In Rakhine, the fighting that had been going on for more than two years between the AA and the terrorist military suddenly stopped in November 2022, and since the beginning of 2022, some clashes between the two sides have resumed.
”We see that people are being bullied and pressured by relying on weapons. Inhuman acts are seen continuously. If the SAC continues to do this injustice, there will be a round of attacks again.”, Khaing Thukha said at today’s press conference.
The fighting between the terrorist military and the AA, which had stopped for more than a year, started again on February 4th near Letpan Ridge in northern Maungdaw.
In Rakhine, the military tension between the terrorist military and the AA is at its highest, and there are frequent skirmishes and arrests on both sides.
Min Aung Hlaing, the leader of the terrorist military, has invited for the third time to hold talks, but the armed resistance groups that are actually fighting have not accepted and agreed to hold talks.
