U Khaing Thukha, spokesperson of AA, said at the 8th press conference held by the Arakan Army today that they still have no plan to secede the Rakhine State from the Union of Myanmar.
“There is still no desire to establish Rakhine as a separate country, and there is no still plan to secede Rakhine State from Myanmar,” ULA/AA spokesperson, U Khaing Thukha said.
He said that the ULA/AA prefers their best-prepared guarantees to that of others and continues to do like their guarantees.
“We will not demand anyone the political goal we want. We will continue to work to ensure our guarantees. As for a separate country, it emerges in a situation where we can no longer live together. It will directly be proportional to no longer living together for whether separation or not,” ULA/AA spokesperson, U Khaing Thukha said.
There is something to think about if the Rakhine people are being unjustly arrested, tortured and killed on a daily basis, even though they live together, but are unhappy, he said.
“As separation, it must be done by the administration. If we, the Rakhine people, can create our self-determination without separation, we will not be sad. If so, all the social and economic standards will be convenient. The Myanmar military oppressed the Rakhine people for ages, so social and economic standards did not develop at all. Among all Regions and States, the Rakhine State was the poorest,” said a resident of Mrauk-U.
The military junta is reportedly firing heavy artillery on Rakhine State’s townships and villages where there is no fighting and setting fire to schools and hospitals. Local residents have reportedly suffered many losses due to the fighting between the two sides in Rakhine State.
