Hundreds of Youths reportedly came to join the Chin Resistance Forces after the junta had enforced the compulsory military service law on February 10.
“Most of the youths who came to join the Chin Resistance Forces are youths from Kalay and Kabaw Valley, and plain areas,” CNO/CNDF spokesperson Salai Kyong Ngai told MPA.
“Now we are providing military training. I don’t know the exact list yet. The CNO/CNDF still need a lot of revolutionaries from the people’s side to get federal democracy and create our own self-determination. We always welcome people to join CNO/CNDF as soon as possible,” he said.
The PDF Zoland based in Titan Township in Northern Chin State has announced today that hundreds of youths have also arrived, so there is a need for shelters, food, equipment, and medical assistance to be taught military education.
“The young people who can do everything have turned this (conscription law) into a revolutionary force. Hundreds of young people have come to PDF Zoland to avoid the fascist military junta and reinforce the People’s Defense Forces,” the statement reported.
After the enforcement of the conscription law, the junta reinforced troops, weapons and ration with a helicopter to Mindat town on February 18, and they announced Mindat people must list 70 people per Ward of Mindat town.
Although the junta announced like this in Mindat, the junta’s conscription law will not have a major impact on local youth due to the junta military’s inability to control the area and establish administrative mechanism inside the town of Mindat, according to the consideration of the Chin National Council (Mindat) spokesperson, Salai Yoman.
“It made people a little concerned, but there are no arrests in the wards yet. If there are arrests, Mindat town has many entrances and exits. Mindat’s Young people will not be in trouble whether they choose the revolutionary side or the junta side like youths in big cities. If they are going to choose anyway, they will join the Chin Defense Force (CDF),” Salai Yoman told MPA.
The Chin Defense Force (Mindat) held a military graduation ceremony of training (4) a week ago, and after this ceremony, new recruits do not currently join the CDF again yet.
