The military junta troops fired heavy weapons at Htam Yang Village and Hti Yang Village in Hsihseng Township, Southern Shan State around 10:00 p.m. yesterday (February 17th), killing two and injuring seven, including a month-old infant, according to residents.
A 6-month-old infant in Htam Yang Village was killed and his two parents were injured as a result of that shelling.
“They fired about 20 times from Hsaik Hkawng (village in Namatu Township), without any clashes, at 10:00 p.m. It is said that several houses were hit,” said a local man from Hsihseng.
Similarly, a man was killed and five others were injured due to the shelling by junta troops in Hti Tam Village.
“There are no PNLA/PNLO forces in that village. There is no deployment. The junta troops fired upon villages on purpose,” PLNO spokesperson Khun Rein Yan told MPA.
In addition, the PNLA/PNLO announced this morning (February 18) that the junta troops and its militia forces fired more than 100 rounds of heavy weapons at the villages of Kyaukkarsar, Lone Hee, and SaNgaw in the region of Menal Mountain on February 17.
