The junta troops that raided in Koneinn Village in the east of Pyu Township, Bago Region, burned down public houses and killed two local people, according to the villagers.
A 40-year-old villager said that the junta column that starting entered the East, West, and South villages of Kone In Village on February 4 burned down houses in West Konein Village.
“About six houses were burned in West Koneinn Village. On February 5th, junta troops came to South Koneinn Village. They shot and killed two villagers. I am not sure who they are. They set the village on fire, and almost the entire village was burned,” he explained.
According to a revolutionary soldier, the column arrived at East Konein Village on February 6th, and as it continued to advance, a fight broke out with the revolutionary soldiers.
“They (the junta troops) went up from Koneinn East Village to Setkone, and we waited for them in advance and shot them. It is not yet known exactly how many casualties there were. Now they retreated to East Village and are settling down there. I don’t know for sure if that village was burned or not,” he said.
People who live in neighboring villages have also fled including the villages where the column has entered, so the number of people displaced by that column is very large, and they need help, said the person helping the displaced people.
“People from five nearby villages, including the three villages of Kone Inn, Setkone, and Tha Pyay Khin, have fled. They have been separated into three places. Some of them have gone to Pyu Town. There are now more than 200 people even in our rescue camp. We, the rescue teams, as well as the villagers, are helping them. The column is still there, so the villagers don’t dare to return. We need food, clothes, and medicine,” he added.
Revolution joint forces attacked five junta outposts near Gonete Village, Kanyutkwin Towbship on January 4th, killing about 20 soldiers.
