It is reported that an elderly man who was unable to escape was burned to death in the fire burned by the junta troops in Nagartwin Village, Monywa Township, Sagaing Region.
The column with 80 junta soldiers that came out of Ma-U Gate at the exit of Monywa Town on January 3rd at 4:22 PM, was attacked by local PDFs at the entrance of Nagartwin Village, resulting in many injuries and casualties. Then, they set fire to Nagartwin Village, the Monywa-A Myint Road Information Team said.
“An old man who couldn’t run was left in the house. He was caught in the fire and died,” said the person in charge of the Monywa- A Myint Road Information Team.
The column was attacked by PDF forces, and five soldiers were killed, according to a source close to the defense forces.
“There was a clash at the entrance of the village. It was not a landmine. There was a gun fire between both sides. About five soldiers were killed eyewitesssly. Soldiers from Ma-U Gate helped to shoot heavy weapons,” he said.
It is reported that more than 50 houses in Nagartwin Village were lost due to the burning of that column.
“They went in and out of each house and burned them. Then they retreated and ran away,” said the person in charge of the Monywa-A Myint Road Information Team.
It is reported that more than 3,000 residents in 10 villages, including Nagartwin Village, have fled due to the army’s entrance.
It is reported that the column entered Taw Pu Pyu Saw Htee Village on January 3rd at 5:16 p.m.
The MPA could not independently confirm the deaths of the soldiers.
