The school and some houses were damaged by the junta’s airstrike near the school of Meitan village near Kyeikdon town in Kawkareik Township, KNU’s Dooplaya District, where there was no fighting, according to the Dooplaya District Information Official.
“The Yak-130 Jet Fighter _ from Nay Pyi Taw Air Base _ dropped three 500-pound bombs on the school of Meitan village at 1:20 a.m. last February 1,” he said.
The junta thought the resistance forces were taking positions in schools and monasteries like their troops, so they came and shot those places. The resistance forces never stationed at civilians’ targeted places and residents have fled from war, so no one was injured, according to the Dooplaya District Information Official.
More than 20,000 residents from villages have reportedly fled from war as the junta troops are firing heavy weapons into villages near Kyeikdo town every day.
“Some villages in the vicinity of Kyeikdon town have fled from war for a long time and still flee till now. Some of them are staying in refugee camps on the border. Every day and night, they are firing heavy weapons, so the villagers don’t dare to stay,” the Dooplaya District Information Official said.
In addition, the Kyeikdon-based Military Tactic reportedly opened fire heavy weapons into Poeye village near Kyeikdon town at 7:50 p.m. on January 21, injuring a 42-year-old woman.
“Our resistance forces used to attack with drones on the military camp and tactic in Kyeikdon town. At that time, they shot heavy weapons into villages near Kyeikdon town. It is the act that they used to do like they shoot the places where the civilians are, who are not related to the fighting,” a resistance comrade on the ground, said.
The junta reportedly bombed with two Yak-130 Jets on southern villages in Kawkareik township, Dooplaya District on 2023 December 1, killing a civilian, injuring another civilian and damaging some houses.
