The Danyawaddy Naval Base fired artillery weapons into villages in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, in the afternoon on February 1, injuring 5 Kyaukpyu locals, according to residents.
“When the junta troops patrolled the villages along the highway, they clashed with the Arakan Army (AA). Then the naval headquarters fired heavy weapons towards the villages. I heard some villages were heavily hit by artillery, but I don’t know exactly. A large weapon fell into U-Che village, burning a house,” a Kyaukphyu resident said.
The Three Northern Alliances reported that five civilians returning from shopping in Zin Chaung town _ including a U-Che villager _ were injured in the weapon explosion of two shells fired by the Junta Naval Headquarters.
“Those who returned from shopping come in two cars. They heard the fight was taking place on the Kyaukphyu highway, so they parked near U-Che village and waited. At that time, the weapon fell into the village and hit their car. Both the driver and the passengers in the car were injured,” said a resident of Uche village.
Those injured _ including 23-year-old man, 40-year-old man, and a woman _ were reportedly taken to Minpyar Hospital and Zin Chaung Hospital for medical treatment.
On January 8, the Arakan Army (AA) reportedly started to attack the Danyawaddy Naval Base _ that is one of the largest naval bases of the junta _ in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, for the first time, and for the second time, it was attacked again on January 22.
