It is reported that junta troops killed three people and burned down Kalon Village and Thawahti Village, Khin U Township, Sagaing Region.
The junta column with 80 soldiers that came out of Ye-U Town yesterday (December 31st) spent the night in Pyin Htaung Pyu Saw Htee Village and entered Kin Pyit Village and Kalon Village, Khin U Township, at around 5:30 a.m., a local resident who did not want to be named told MPA.
“They (junta soldiers) beheaded the people. I don’t know why they killed the people. People didn’t have time to avoid them because they entered the village around 5:30 a.m.,” said a local.
He added that those who were killed were Ye Aung from Kalon Village, Thein Tun from Thayet Kone Village, and U Ye Aung from Kin Myit Village, and all of them were middle-aged.
“That column arrested a civilian. I don’t know why they arrested that person or who that person is,” he said.
Kalon village was set on fire for no reason today (February 1), around 7:00 a.m., and about 15 houses were burned to ashes.
“There was no fighting, and there were no clashes. They just burned the village. Around 15 houses were burned down. That’s all we know at the moment,” said a local defense soldier.
He said that the column started burning Tharwahti Village around 12:30 p.m. and remained in the village until about 2:00 p.m.
About 8,000 residents in Ye-U Town have fled due to the column’s advance.
