Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People Defense Forces (PDFs) attacked Thayethamein Police Station in Waw Township of Bago Region at 5 a.m. yesterday, killing 7 junta members, according to the revolutionary forces.
“We attacked the Police Station deployed by a total of 50 junta troops, police and junta militias, but we could not seize the police station,” a comrade in the ground fighting said.
The strength wasn’t much before, but the strength increased when soldiers and junta militias came. Two soldiers, four police and a junta militia were killed in front of my eyes. I heard some were injured, but I don’t know exactly, he said.
When the police station was attacked, the military junta was enforcing firing heavy weapons, so the revolutionary forces retreated. One from revolutionary forces was reportedly killed and two were injured.
“We arrived near the camp. It is need about 30 feet. At that time, the junta was enforcing more than 50 points with heavy weapons. Junta militia and police fled by a motorcycle, so we chased firing them, killing both of them and we seized an Uzi (BA.94) in a bag of the dead militia,” he added.
The weapon shell fired by the junta exploded into the village, causing injuries to local people and arresting people by the military, according to locals.
“The weapon shell fell into Thayethamein village. I heard there were injured and dead people, but I don’t know exactly. The villagers were trapped. Last night, 5 villagers were arrested. Those villagers have not been released until this morning,” he said.
The KNLA joint forces reportedly attacked with shock missiles to the Light Infantry 598 in Kunseik village in Shwegyin township on the same day that they attacked Thayethamein Police Station.
