According to the Public Administration of Pale Township, a person was tortured and killed and at least 13 people were arrested by the SAC Military that patrolled in the northern part of Pale Township, Sagaing Region.
“On October 12, 5 people from Kankyi village were arrested, one was killed, and the other was released. The person who was killed was Ko Chan Aung, who was about 40 years old. On the 13, at least 10 people from Kwsi village were arrested again. In total, a person was killed and at least 13 people were taken hostage,” a member of Pale Township’s Public Administration told MPA.
“A man from Kangyi village who was arrested by the SAC column and released, came back with unsound mind because of the psychological abuse by the SAC soldiers,” he said.
“The man who was released was unsound mind. We can’t ask him anything. We can’t ask anyone else either. He didn’t say anything to himself. Ko Chan Aung, who was killed, was his friend. They tortured Ko Chan Aung and then shot him in the ear,” explained a member of Pale Township’s Public Administration.
Currently, more than 10,000 people from about 9 villages in the northern part of Pale Township are fleeing the war because of patrolling by the SAC military,” said a person helping to IDPs.
“The people have fled from war to monasteries and schools in the villages that are far from the military column. The main problem is that when they bring their cattle and pigs, they have a lot of trouble. If they are left, they will kill everything and take the food away. People who flee to the forest and mountains get sick when the rains continue, and we can’t treat them,” said a person helping to IDPs.
Last October 11, at around 6 o’clock in the morning, a column that came out from Pale City arrived at the northern part of Pale Township, and after entering the villages of Mya Gone, Zety Yeon, Sattara and Katthan, 7 people were arrested. It was also reported that those was released when they arrived at Sinshin Village.
Since September of this year, the SAC troops have been patrolling more into Pale Township, and the people fleeing the war are facing difficulties in the need for food, drinking water and medicine.
