It is reported that about 7,000 local residents fled due to the violent attack of the SAC troops in Kanbalu an d Kyunhla Townships, Sagaing Region.
On June 14, SAC troops fired into Shangon village, Kanbalu Township with heavy and small arms and set fire to it. Residents from 13 villages in Kanbalu District, Kanbalu and Kyunhla Townships had to flee from the column, an official from Kyunhla Activists Group told MPA.
“Until yesterday, some of them were returning. Some of them still couldn’t enter the villages,” he said.
Local residents were forced to flee from 13 villages such as Kyartakan, Htan Pin Gone Village from Kyunhla Township and Shan Kone, Pint Thar, Chaung Gyar, Hpala Ya, Inn Ma, Nagar Paw, Oak Khin, Hin Phyu Taw, Pin Tae, In Gyin Su and In Gyin Myaing villages in Kanbalu Township.
“Now is the rainy season, so it rains often. Those displaced people have to stay by sheltering in a tarpaulin from the rain. They don’t dare to go to the monasteries in the nearby villages,” he said.
On November 11, 2022, Shan Gone Village in Pint Thar Circle Unit, Kanbalu Township, was burned for the first time by the SAC soldiers, and five public houses were destroyed. It is reported that 4 public houses and 1 rice barn were destroyed due to the second arson.
