In Gangaw Town, Magway Region, Gangaw resident Ko Moe Win, one unknown person, who were prosecuted for a political case, and a total of two people who were taken to the police station at noon today on June 11th by SAC soldiers and shot dead, it was investigated.
According to local residents, the soldiers took two political prisoners in two cars and shot them dead between Gangaw Town and Pyar Village at around 1:00 p.m.
“I heard gunshots at 1:00 p.m. At first, I didn’t know what it was. I thought it was a normal gunshot. Then I heard that two prisoners were shot dead in the place where Ko Tin Thaung was killed before. Today, the road between Ganggo and Pyar Village was closed,” a local told MPA.
It has also been investigated that the SAC has ordered martial law on the townships in Gangaw District since February 2, 2023.
The two political prisoners who were shot dead were arrested because of their political convictions after the declaration of martial law, and have been detained at the police station and are facing charges.
It is reported that after the SAC troops visited the police station and took the files of the political detainees who were facing trial before April 22, a total of 3 people, including Ko Tin Thaung and Ko Moe Win and one unknown, were summoned to the Military and interrogated.
Last April 22, Ko Tin Thaung was first taken from the police station and was shot dead by the SAC troops somewhere between Gangaw Town and Pyar village.
Subsequently, today, June 11th, Ko Moe Win and 1 unidentified person were taken again and a total of 2 people were taken, and the SAC troops shot them dead at the place where the Ko Tin Thaung was killed between Gangaw Town and Pyar Village before.
It was known that SAC troops killed Ko Tin Thaung, Ko Moe Win and 1 unknown person without notifying the families of the victims, and the bodies were not returned.
It was investigated that the residents of Gangaw are worried that the lives of those arrested for political reasons are seriously in danger.
