Major General Twan Mrat Naing of the Arakan Army (AA) said today that there are not enough forces to solve the natural disaster, so the international community is asked to help them.
“Arakan Army (AA) is trying to gather all the resources to solve the natural disaster, but it is not enough,” he said.
Major General Twan Mrat Naing of the Arakan Army (AA) said that due to the Mokha storm that hit Sittwe last May 14, there was a lot of damage and loss in Rakhine State, and emergency relief has to be carried out.
It is reported that the rice, grain, and food collected by the Rakhine people are damaged, and buffaloes, cattle, and animals are lost a lot by the Mokha cyclone, and there is an urgent need for emergency relief for the people.
In the towns and villages along the path of the storm, the damage to buildings and homes is about 90%, and in addition to power outages, telephone, and Internet lines are down.
He said that currently, there is an urgent need for immediate support of food, medicine, and shelter for the people affected by the storm.
Major General Twan Mrat Naing also said that we, all, were able to prepare and move people to safety in Rakhine State, using all resources before the Mokha storm, so we saved many people’s lives. He also expressed his gratitude to the civil society organizations and people who participated in this process.
