The former president of the Ma Hlaing Township Students’ Union (ABFSU – All Burma Federation of Student Union) was arrested on March 7, 2022, in the midway of Mahlaing and Meiktila Road, and it is known that it has not been contacted by people close to him until now.
“He was arrested and taken to the Light Infantry Division (99) based in Meiktila. From the day that he was arrested until April 1, 2022, he was in contact with his family. From the 2nd, we were not able to contact him at all,” the current president of Mahlaing Township ABFSU (Ba-Ka-Tha League) told MPA.
On April 13, 2022, when their league contacted the officials of the 99th Division of the SAC, they informed them that he was no longer in the army and that he had been sent to prison, but they did not give a specific answer as to which prison he was sent to, the president continued.
“On the day that Ko Jimmy and Ko Phyo Zayar Thaw were hanged, a young man from Ma Hlaing was also hanged. 3 days after the hanging, the vice president came to me and told me that he was the former chairman. I cannot confirm for sure. When I called the officials of the 99th Division that day, they did not answer. I still believe that he is still alive,” he continued.
According to the statements of AAPP, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma), there are a total of (151) people, including (42) who were sentenced to death blindly after the military coup.
