It is reported that a large number of soldiers and police forces are providing security and the population census is being collected for days in Monywa city.
Since Jan. 9, soldiers and police forces have been conducting checks in Monywa City, and they are taking security and compiling voter lists, said a resident of Hpayar Gyi Ward, Monywa City.
“They started collecting population census in the Myothit neighborhood. There were quite a lot of forces. On the second day, there were snipers. They surrounded Myothit neighborhood and took a household census. A military vehicle was parked near the old GTI road. A police car and a Dyna car were parked,” he said.
Around 10:35 this morning, more than 10 soldiers provided security to about 20 people who collected population census in Hpayar Gyi Ward and Sule Gone Ward of Monywa City and they collected the census, said a resident of Sule Gone Ward.
“They are counting now. They started collecting at the pagoda around 10:30. Now they have reached Sule Gone. There are about 10 soldiers. The guns are fully filled with bullets and cocked. There are young women in the household census group,” he said.
Currently, MPA has investigated that a large number of soldiers and police forces lie in ambush in Myothit Ward, Obo Htaung Ward, Aung Chan Thar Ward, Kwaegyi Ward, Dawna Chan Ward, Hpayar Gyi Ward, and Sule Gone Ward of Monywa City, collecting population census and doing casual checks.
