It is reported that the security soldiers who were running ahead of the population census collecting team in Ayardaw, Sagaing Region were attacked with landmines.
The police and non-CDM personnel went door-to-door to take a population census in Ayardaw Town, Area No. 2, Inn Gyin Hla Ward and the soldiers who came as advance security at 7:15 this morning were attacked with 2 landmines.
Some residents of Ayardaw Town said that the census collecting group turned around and ran away after being hit by landmines.
“The damage is not yet known. The revolutionary forces ambushed the soldiers who came to collect the guest list and census in the Inn Gyin Hla neighborhood,” said an official of Ayardaw Township PDF.
After hearing the loud explosion of the mine, the team immediately turned around and ran back.
“We will protest in any way we can,” he said.
The official of Ayardaw Township PDF also said that the exact list of NonCDM employees participating in population census has been received, and action will definitely be taken in some day.
A total of 50 SAC troops, police and non-CDM personnel have been collecting population census from door to door since January 9th.
