The Arakan Army (AA) said at a press conference held today on August 11 that 7 camps of the terrorist military on the Myanmar-Bangladesh border have been withdrawn.
The MPA found out that these terrorist camps were lost to the terrorist military due to the AA’s territorial control.
“It’s not a form of attack and occupation. Especially on the Maungdaw side, there are about 7 camps where the SAC retreated.”, Khaing Thukha said.
The camps that were lost by the terrorist military are border police outposts between Kyein Chaung-Khamoung Seik and Kyein Chaung -Taung Pyo in the north of Maungdaw, some of the camps were attacked and destroyed by the AA, and some other camps did not dare to stay, so they retreated and ran away, the locals explained.
”A camp was attacked and captured by the AA and destroyed by fire. Some other camps also retreated and ran away. All the camps are from the north,” a local from the Northern Maungdaw told the MPA.
The fighting started between the terrorist military and the AA in the north of Maungdaw on February 4 this year, and during the fight that took place on July 18 last, the AA captured 14 soldiers, including an officer of the terrorist military.
The AA said that the military retreated due to the difficulty of the terrorist military’s border guard outposts blocking each other, and currently, small skirmishes between the military and the Arakan Army (AA) are taking place in the north of Maungdaw.
“Now, the fighting continues in the north of Maungdaw and on the Paletwa side. It is still possible to have it today.”, the AA spokesperson Khaing Thukha said.
Among the terrorist camps that were lost like that, there are Oh Htein Camp, Ye Baw Kya Camp, and Nan Rakai Camp, among those camps, the border guard police and the army together with more than 100 troops deployed in Nan Rakai camp retreated and fled, and the AA came and burned it down on the night of August 5th, according to local residents.
”When there were battles in Rakhine, there were no battles with AA in Maungdaw. But recently, it has not happened in other places but it just occurred in Northern Maungdaw. On that side, the AA is said to be active with thousands of troops. That’s why recently we have forced the less powerful camps to be together with other places,” a department official from the Maungdaw district told the MPA.
It has been investigated that the No. (1) Border Guard Police Command Force is active in Maungdaw Township, Buthidaung Township, and Rathae Taung Township, including the northern part of Maungdaw, and 11 regional offices, 12 regional police stations, 129 outposts, 27 river outposts, 12 border fence outposts, a total of 191 places, as well as the terrorist military were expanding its force.
Some local department officials also confirmed that all the border guard police outposts of the terrorist military that were lost in the northern part of Maungdaw were built on the burial ground in order to hide the bodies of the Rohingya who were killed after the massacre of the Rohingya.
In the north of Maungdaw on the Myanmar-Bangladesh border, the terrorist military’s Kyein Chaung military strategy is more than 620 troops, there are strategic positions in Khamoung Seik and Taung Pyo Cities, but most of the other camps only have a strength of 25 to more than 70 at most, some border guards explained that they don’t like the terrorist military.
