There is a rising river in Myaung Township, Sagaing Region, if the growers do not reap in time, it will face the possibility that all crops would lose, according to the Myaung Women Warriors.
As the river is still rising, today on June 27, they said bean farmers had been harvesting beans for five days with their help.
“It had to go up because of the rain. Normally, when it rains a lot from us, the water level rises. This year, there was too much rain in the upper part, two taung (one taung = 1.5 feet), three taung has rose a day, harvests cannot make ends meet on time because the flow rate of water is quick into the bean fields, an official from the Myaung Women Warriors told the MPA.
Currently depending on the tide, although the bean harvest is making quickly, the water level is rising until three o’clock in the afternoon Myanmar Standard Time, it is known that a pedestrian bridge in Mae Ma Thaw Village was also submerged.
“The bridge is submerged. It is built to access passing through in front of the village. Below that there is a stream normally.”, an official from the Myaung Women’s Warriors further explained to the MPA.
