In the morning of April 5, KNLA and People’s Defense Joint Forces in the area of KNU Brigade-7 attacked two BGF outposts of the Border Guard Force in Htikaw Htaw village, near the new Shwe Koke Ko town, in north of Myawaddy town in Kayin State, and the fighting is going on until the morning of April 6th.
It is known from the latest investigation of the Shwe Koke Ko battle, there are deaths on both sides and more than 3,000 local residents have fled to Thailand due to the fighting that has been going on until this morning.
A person close to the KNLA forces told MPA that the KNLA and People’s Defense Joint Forces in the area of KNU Brigade-7 started to attack the BGF camps at around 5:30 in the morning, so all of them from the Htikaw Htaw BGF camp have fled, and a Hti Char Htar BGF camp was burnt to arson.
It is reported that after that, the SAC military troops and BGF troops from the barracks where the Chinese live, near facade of Shwe Koke Ko town and from the New Year’s field, have fired back with the them and at around 12:00 noon, two helicopters from the military of the SAC were flying around and shooting.
Now, more than 30,000 local residents have fled to Thakkaya, Sandhill Gate, Hui, Wanfa villages in the side of Thailand. The Thai army does not allow to go to the towns and villages in the side of Thailand. The garages on the Thai side They were forced to live temporarily in garages on the bank, rubber farms and cattle ranches in the side of Thailand.
“The heavy weapons fell on the side of the Shwe Koke Ko and the New Year Square. Chinese casinos are provided security by the military and BGF, Sniper soldiers, and the BGFs, both Chinese language and Myanmar language, yelled at them to stay in their apartments and not to go out”, said one of the displaced people.
A person close to the KNLA joint force said that during the fighting situation, some BGF soldiers including the personal officer of the commander of the BGF border guard force, have been dead and injured, and 5 comrades of the KNLA joint forces have died and 15 ones have been injured.
Regarding the military situation in the new Shwe Koke Ko town, the military of the SAC and the border guards have not released any news until now.
