There are about 40,000 IDPs in Tanintharyi, with the largest number in Palaw Township.
This list is a list compiled from March 1 until today, and the number of people fleeing the war is not constant, said an official of Dawna-Taninthari IDP Support Group.
“The number may change depending on the marching of the Military column and the situation of the battle,” he said.
During this month, 358 people from Dawei Township, around 10,000 people from Launglon Township, 2,600 permanent IDPs, 25,000 temporary IDPs, and 800 people from Tanintharyi Township have fled their homes and fled the war.
“The situation on the ground has been gathered based on information from the news media. There are no IDPs in the Tanintharyi area of Ye Phyu and Thayet Chaung because the military issue is still in place. The SAC troops are entering and marching the villages such as Aukkyaukwut, Thabawteik, Karen Gyi, Pa Nyit, Nyaung Pyin, and Kyauksin in Launglon. The number of people fleeing the war is the second highest because of continuous shooting with heavy weapons and burning down. Palaw is the highest number,” he said.
An official of the Palaw-based Puriyakha Yetkha Column said that the SAC troops are still firing heavy weapons at the villages of Pawutkone, Minhtein, Minwin, and Pulawkone in Palaw Township, Tanintharyi REgion, so most of the locals have not been able to return home.
“If we have to say why there are so many people from us, during the fighting in February, people were fleeing to safety from the villages of Kade, Pawutkone, Lakku, To, Taku, Pidek, and Shapone. Now this month there are more. Some of them are returning, but some have not dared to come back yet,” he said.
The number of IDPs in the Tanintharyi Region is increasing monthly. An official of the Dawna-Taninthari IDP Support Group said that the SAC Military is repeating the terrorist killings and using scorched earth tactics committed by the Military in the Anya region in Taninthari Region
