In Palaw Township, Myeik District, fighting intensified as the terrorist SAC troops entered and combated on some villages, more than 1000 locals are fleeing, according to locals.
The fighting between the Infantry Battalion-285 based in Palaw Township and the People’s Defense Force has intensified in recent days, there were casualties on both sides, according to the members of the Joint Defense Forces.
A resident of Nantaung Village said, “The fighting has been going on for four days in a row. Locals are fleeing as the military is firing with heavy artillery.”
A previous clash in Palaw Township has displaced nearly 1000 people, and more than 1000 people from five villages have fled the fighting in recent days, bringing the total to more than 2000, according to a PRDF official.
“Due to the rainy season as well and the military has blocked access to roads, it might be a major problem for food supplies for the IDP arriving at the camps.”, an official from the Palaw People’s Defense Force – PRDF said.
It is known that at present more than 1000 IDP has fled from Nantaung Village, Hmawmi Village, Jingga Village, Kyaung Naint Village and Painne Taung Village in Palaw Township.
In addition, the terrorist SAC has increased in the area reinforcements from Dawei and Myeik Cities, and the People’s Defense Forces prepared to provide reinforcements ready, according to the PDF comrades.
Furthermore, on June 29th, a clash between the SAC and the PDFs killed about six members of the SAC and nearly 30 troops of the SAC were attacked by pull mines, according to locals.
