Three Northern Alliances had announced that the military junta had launched heavy weapons and airstrikes targeting civilians in the Northern Shan State, less than a day after the temporary cease-fire agreement between the three alliances and the junta military.
Both sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire at 9:00 p.m. on January 11, as a result of the third Kunming talks which was caused by China’s pressure. However, the military junta launched an air attack on Namsan Township, Kunhel Village, Namtu Township, and Manli Village without any battles, and fired heavy weapons on villages in Kyaukme, Mogok, Thipaw, and Lashio Townships.
Additionally, Ta’ang National Liberation Army had announced that the military junta launched an offensive with a large force to Nyien Chan Hill where TNLA is located in Kyaukme township after 9:00 a.m. on January 13, and the fighting lasted for about 2 hours.
The third Kunming meeting was held on January 10 and 11, and they agreed to immediately stop the fighting in the northern Shan State. As for three alliances, they agreed not to launch offensive attacks on military bases and strategic hills in the northern Shan Region, and as for the military junta, they also agreed not to launch heavy weapons and airstrikes on the Northern Shan Areas occupied by the three alliances, and both sides agreed not to harm and destroy Chinese citizens and Chinese investments in the China-Myanmar border region.
Both sides also agreed that they will continue to discuss based on the current ceasefire agreement. However, shortly after the ceasefire agreement, the military junta had targeted attacks on civilians and had launched the offensive against the TNLA in Kyaukme. It shows the character of the junta which dares to spit on their own faces.
In addition, the temporary cease-fire agreement is recognized as the three alliances’ agreement, but the Arakan Army (AA) continues to attack in Rakhine State, so the agreement looks like it only applies to the northern Shan region.
In such a situation, it can be said that the temporary cease-fire agreement has been invalidated due to the violation of the military junta, but China is stubborn and will continue to hold discussions based on the pressure on the three northern alliances.
About 10 towns and around 500 camps were captured by the three alliances in the 1027 operation in the northern Shan region. These captures were occupied after the many sacrifices of the revolutionary comrades and the huge cost in arms and ammunition.
In addition, this occupation ability is the most magnificent success that the ethnic resistance organizations have never achieved during the fighting against the military dictatorships. For the three alliances, it is not easy to give back the captured towns and areas to the junta at the will of the military junta.
Not only the military junta loses every battle and flees from every fighting, but even when they had to hold an official surrender ceremony in Laukkai city, the junta leaders did not change their habit of looking down on the ethnic resistance organizations as per their behavior. In the Kunming talks, the military junta not only arrogantly demands but even threatens three alliances to return the captured territories to them.
Therefore, it is not easy to reach an agreement on the division of territory as a second stage of the talks, and the completed end of the 1027 operation as a third stage, and the non-connection of the Spring Revolution with the 1027 Operation will also be just an imagination of the junta and China.
The Three Alliances promise again and again that the 1027 Operation aims to eradicate the military dictatorship as the people wish, and the statement of the 61st Ta’ang National Revolution Day Commemoration on January 12 stated that they will fight together with the revolutionary forces to completely end the military dictatorship and build a Federal Democratic Union.
To conclude all, it means that the 1027 operation will continue to be a part of the Spring Revolution.
