It can see that a banner, “Today, the pagoda is closed due to the death penalty of the country.”, a photo which is hanging on the entrance of the Shwe Dagon Pagoda has emerged in the morning in June 12.
Aforementioned the banner was hanged as an anti-junta movement by the Yangon People’s Strike, it is known that.
On June 13rd, in the Full Moon Day of Nayon (a month of Burmese Calendar), they urged the people to strike the Junta without going on pilgrimage to Pagodas and by making silence the platform of the pagoda.
I’d like to say that the banner reflected the present of Myanmar’s situation.
It has become a wave after the terrorist SAC stated that the four political prisoners including the politician (Ko) Jimmy or (Ko) Kyaw Min Yu, (Ko) Phyo Zayer Thaw were confirmed for capital sentence. The decision of that death sentence was objected to and condemned by the UN, Human Rights Organization including internationals.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN Chairmanship, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen urged to reconsider the death penalty to the terrorist SAC.
(Ko) Jimmy who is the 88th Generation Student Leader and (Ko) Phyo Zayer Thaw who was the
National League for Democracy – NLD MP were arrested with weapons in Yangon thereafter, the SAC accused them who were the organizers of assassinations, then the Military Court sentenced death penalty to them.
Another people, (Ko) Hla Myo Aung and (Ko) Aung Thura Zaw, who accused for involvement in the killing of a woman who also accuses as the SAC-informer, were sentenced death penalty by the terrorist SAC on January 21st.
All four people who have sentenced death penalty were sentenced without having rights to hire a lawyer, rights to defense by accusing one-sidely.
Confirmation such a death penalty is lack of justice and besides no formality with existing law and judgements, the experts in law said that it violates over international laws and agreements in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by UN.
It is known that death sentence is termed as capital punishment in English. There are records that only 58 countries use capital punishment and 97 countries already abolished it legally.
In the EU countries, it is said that they ban death penalty in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
The United Nations General Assembly urged a resolution for the abolition of the Death Penalty on a global scale.
Although that resolution was abided by many countries, it is known that China, America, India, Indonesia voted against that resolution.
America, India and Indonesia rarely sentenced death penalty.
Myanmar is a country which also voted against decision of death penalty.
At present, it is the country which haven’t withdrawn from death penalty legally.
Since a long time ago, plenty of lives and their existence were dead as if intentionally assassinated around all over Myanmar.
From the Revolutionary Council -RC to Student Uprising of the 1970s, U Thant Uprising, Labor Uprising, the 1988 People Power Uprising (the 8888 Uprising), the 2007 Saffron Uprising led by Monks, there were such many records that the Military were started cracked down and made brutal killings.
In February 2021, the SAC started crack-down and killings peaceful demonstrations of the monks-student-youth who were not accepting the unjust Military coup.
The terrorist SAC killed and shot to head of the people, even committed killings breaking the people’s houses in large cities such Yangon, Mandalay including Nay Pyi Taw.
The people who cannot accept such the terrorist Junta’s actions made resistance war, as a result, the People’s Defense Forces – PDFs are emerging around the country, isn’t it?
Political activists including (Ko) Jimmy, (Ko) Phyo Zayer Thaw are not terrorists.
Resistance fighters are only the ones whom resisted the terrorist SAC who killed and tortured the people.
They are the pro-democracy men and the ones who want to make a difference that is better for the public’s benefits than now.
Therefore, if looking at the banner in the entrance of Shwe Dagon Pogada, it means that the whole Myanmar including (Ko) Jimmy and (Ko) Phyo Zayer Thaw is being sentenced a death penalty.
