On October 15, the Chin Defense Force (Mindat) issued a warning to villages in Mindat Township, Chin State, to dig bomb pits to prevent the SAC military’s heavy weapons and aerial threat.
It is reported, “the statement has been issued to prevent aerial threats due to an Infantry battalion 274 from Mindat town is frequently firing heavy weapons towards the villages, and the good season has arrived.”
“When the good season comes, the SAC military usually conducts airstrikes. We have also received news about aviation. If there are such attacks, innocent civilians are more likely to suffer and die. We are releasing the news for alarming to people,” a member of the Department of Information and Records of DDF (Mindat), Salimindat, told MPA.
It has been a long time since the SAC military has been unable to launch a ground offensive into the CDF (Mindat) controlled areas, and it is known that the SAC military can only carry out heavy weapons and airstrikes.
Therefore, the CDF (Mindat) can fight back against the SAC military’s ground column, but they do not yet have the weapons to fight back against the air force, so the people should dig bunkers and participate in preventive measures.
“If a house is destroyed, it can be rebuilt, but everyone has only one life, so we would like to urge everyone to follow the statement as if they are protecting their lives,” he continued.
In recent days, due to the SAC military’s heavy fire, the houses of the villages in Mindat Township have been damaged. In addition to the deaths of pets, school-age children and the elderly are fleeing to safety.
“We dug a bomb pit. If anything, the children were forced to live in bomb shelters. There are people from the village who have not dug yet,” a local in Mindat Township told MPA.
On September 29, a 17-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy from village tract-4 were injured by heavy weapon fired by Infantry Battalion-274 of the SAC.
In addition, due to an air attack by the SAC military’s jet fighter on July 8, 3 people, including a 9-year-old child were killed, one was injured, and churches and homes were destroyed in Wyounkone village of Mindat township.
