There are reports that Myanmar’s military coup Min Aung Hlaing and the Chief of the Thai Navy will meet on the 19th in Thandwe, Rakhine State.
On the 10th of this month, the military council forced to demolish some shops and small roadside buildings along Min Bagyi Road, Thandwe, Rakhine State, saying it was for a meeting.
Before such demolition, the Thandwe Township Municipal Council under the SAC issued an official warning on January 6 that some of the demolished shops and places must be removed by January 8.
“Since yesterday, full security has been put in place in all areas. Security checks are also being conducted in all areas. We have been preparing since the beginning of this month. One of the highest rank people is coming. We don’t know the exact name of who will come,” an officer of the SAC from Thandwe City told MPA.
As there is to be such a meeting and discussion, the navy personnel of the SAC in the Yangon region started to leave the place yesterday as preliminary security, the naval community confirmed.
In addition, since yesterday, they have also blocked important roads in and out of the city in Gwa, Taungup, Kyauk Pyu, Munaung, and Thandwe townships, as well as strict security and inspections, residents said.
In Thandwe, residents said that in addition to the soldiers and the police, the SAC staff from various departments is carrying out surveillance, patrolling and checking, door-to-door and guest list checks, as well as motorcycles and cars.
“Now they are forcing shops near important places to be closed. They came last night and told me that we must close. For the military roads on the beach side, no one can go there anymore,” a businessman from Thandwe town told MPA.
Some military council officers also said that the Thai Navy Chief and the delegation will include about 30 members and will arrive in a special plane of the Royal Thai Air Force.
Observers of the Rakhine issue say that such dialogue is a preparation for the Myanmar Burma Act approved by the US government before the next election and they will come to see the Russian Navy’s docking station which has been completed in southern Rakhine.
It is said that in addition to the SAC’s military headquarters in Kyauk Phyu in southern Rakhine State, there is also a Russian naval base and another international naval base is being built in A Ngu Beach, Gwa Township.
Arakan military observers also say that the SAC’s navy, which suffered a serious setback during the Rakhine battles, relied mainly on the navy during the last resurgent fighting, and was mainly used for support, military and reinforcements.
