The junta troops shot to death a man for no reason and two women were killed by the heavy weapon in Kalay town, Sagaing Region, according to local residents.
“A man _ who was passing by in front of Yoma Bank in Tarhan ward in Kalay town _ was shot to death by the junta for no reason at 9:00 a.m. on February 22, and another two women were hit to death in the junta’s heavy weapons explosion in Monline ward at night,” a man from Kalay town told MPA.
“Ko Tum Kham Mun aged 47 was shot to death while passing by Roma Bank in Tahan Ward, for no reason. The junta’s heavy weapon fell in Monline ward in the west of Kalay, resulting Daw Kyung Kho Bom aged 48 and Daw Kyung Kho Kin aged 29 losing their lives overnight,” he explained.
The junta troops have reportedly guarded outposts around the area of Kalay town and the local defense forces started offensive attacks on the junta’s outposts since February 21, so the junta’s bases inside the town are supporting continuous shooting of heavy weapons for those outposts.
“Due to the intensity of fighting between the junta troops and the local defense forces, some people living in the outskirts of Kalay town have moved to wards of the town where the junta’s weapons cannot reach, but some others are trapped without being able to move,” a local woman in Kalay town told MPA.
“The town is not crowded. No one goes out much anymore. Locals only go out to the neighborhoods. The town is completely closed to escape from the town. Only a few from the outskirts have moved inside the town because of the dangers of heavy weapons. This is only for people who have relatives inside the town. Some of them are staying in their houses like this,” she said.
The 3 civilians _ in Monline ward _ were hit to death, and 10 civilians _ from Monline ward, Pyitawtar village, Letpanchaung village, Myauk Chawtaw village in the north of Kalay town_ were reportedly injured by the junta’s heavy weapons yesterday.
