Seven people were killed and six were seriously injured when the junta’s army shelled Wartaw Village, Hsihseng Township, Southern Shan State, according to residents.
While the residents of Wartaw Village were returning after shopping for food at around 7:00 a.m. yesterday (February 19), the junta troops fired heavy weapons at them.
“They brought some utensils and some stuff. Then the army maybe saw them and shot them. There was a battle. I don’t know for sure where it was,” said a man from Hsihseng.
He added that six residents of War Taw Village who were injured were sent to the public hospital for medical treatment in Taunggyi City.
“It’s really sad that this happened. We only have food for a month left. There is still no one to help us. We need help a lot,” said a displaced woman.
In addition, she explained that since the fighting in Hsihsen town is still not calm; food is urgently needed for more than 100,000 people who are fleeing the war. The fighting is intense today (February 20th), and the military junta troops are firing heavy weapons.
The Junta’s troops carried out a drone bombing attack on Htan Yang Village and Hti Tam Village, Hsihseng Township on February 17th, killing two including a 6-month-old infant and injuring seven people.
