The Military Junta arrested two trainees of Korean Language Training in Myingyan town in Mandalay Region, according to Myingyan People’s Strike Committee.
The military arrested 5 young trainees from the Korean Language Training in Ward No.13 of Myingyan town on February 12, and three of them were released, the two were arrested.
“Those youths were arrested at the training, and 3 of the arrested trainees were released, but we heard the remaining two were still arrested for changing their profiles on social media. We don’t know for sure where they were arrested,” said an official from the Myingyan People’s Strike Committee.
In addition, after the junta enacted the Military Service Law, the Myingyan’s General Administration Office instructed the respective ward administrators to provide about 20 youths per ward, but some of the administrators are refusing, he added.
“The ward administrators haven’t announced anything to the ward yet. I heard some administrators are denying that it’s impossible to recruit for the Military Service Law. This law has been enacted so it may also be for that. It is just asking for a recruit, and nothing has happened yet. If they (junta) do not get the people who they asked to serve the military, they seemed to make porters,” he explained.
An official from Myingyan People’s Defense Force said that they welcome people if the people want to come to the revolutionary areas due to the arrest and census for Military Service by the junta.
“We will keep the people safe in our controlled area, and if it is not safe here, we will send them to a safe place. But we were not able to help anything if the people still stayed in the city without coming here because the city was controlled by the military junta,” he said.
An official from Myingyan District Battalion-4 said that pro-junta militias are strong in the town of Myingyan, so there is no guarantee of life for young people and they should go to the areas of the defense forces.
“If we are fighting with the junta troops on the side of Ngatogyi, the junta troops come from the side of Myingyan which has a strong junta militia. If a person falls into the hands of the militia, it is no longer certain that he will live. As for youth, they should choose the path of defense forces against the junta that is arbitrarily issuing unjust orders and using unjust powers. If not, they join the junta and die with them,” he said.
After the military junta enacted the Military Service Law, the Myingyan District Battalion-4 is reportedly recruiting new comrades by the rules and guidelines set by the NUG’s Ministry of Defense.
Myingyan town has 20 wards and is also the town that participated in the forefront at the beginning of the armed revolution.
