An explosion took place inside the Air Force Headquarters in Mingaladon Township, Yangon Region, at 5:15 a.m. this morning, a military source told MPA.
“An explosion took place at around 5:15 a.m., but we don’t know how it happened. I heard the loud sound of the explosion. Now this explosion is investigated, and the junta is investigating the family members of the army,” a military source said.
The explosion reportedly happened within 10 feet of the Air Force Headquarters office, causing injuries and damage.
“Currently, the area of explosion is being inspected. Permission to go outside the army has also been closed. Neither junta troops nor their families are allowed to go out,” a military source added.
Residents around the air force headquarters said that they heard the explosion. but it is not yet known how the explosion happened and they have not been able to contact the families of the army.
“The explosion happened early this morning. I’ve been contacting my friends in the army because I’m worried about them, but I haven’t been able to contact them yet. That’s why I don’t know what the news is yet,” said a local who lives near the air force headquarters.
MPA is currently investigating the explosion inside the Mingaladon Air Force Base and will provide further information if it becomes available.
