The 4 displaced people _ including a pregnant woman _ were reportedly killed by the military junta, in the western part of Khin-U, Sagaing Region.
“The people _ from Myen Gya village and Kyun Taw village _ were killed while fleeing the war at around 1:00 p.m. yesterday,” an official from Kanthayarr PDFs said.
“Those people were not able to escape while fleeing from the junta convoy. The junta troops killed those people because they were heavily harmed in a fight. A pregnant woman, a 50-year-old woman, two 50-year-old men, were shot dead, and we found women of them were killed by cutting their necks with knives,” he said.
The military were patrolling in the western part of Khin-U Township since the first week of January, and houses in Kyuntawgyi village were burned down and local people were killed, he continued.
“There is a bridge in the east of Myen Gya village. When we ambushed and attacked the junta troops near the bridge, they were very hurt. So, they burned houses and killed the people,” a comrade from Kanthayarr PDFs said.
According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), 4,341 people have been killed since the military coup on February 1, 2021, in Myanmar.
