It is reported that the junta troops burned 20 houses to ashes after shelling Thaphan Zin Village, Yedashe Township, Bago Region.
The 16th Light Infantry Battalion, based in Swar Town, fired 120 mm heavy weapons at Thaphan Zin village and also fired 40 mm and 60 mm heavy weapons from a place between Thaphan Zin and Shwe Ka Zaung villages since around 6:30 a.m. today (January 12th), and then soldiers entered Thaphan Zin village and set it on fire, according to an official from the local Kiku joint column.
“They started firing heavy weapons at Thaphan Zin before setting fire to the village at around 6:30 a.m. They entered the village and set it on fire at around 7 a.m. Now our revolutionary forces have entered the village to clear the area,” said an official from the local Kiku joint column at around 10 o’clock in the morning.
He said that the junta army shells and burns the villages for no reason for the sake of threats, so villages do not dare to accept the revolutionary comrades.
“Our village was set on fire this morning. They fired heavy weapons into the village from Swar. The people from the village ran away. The soldiers captured the blind person who could not run and another person. in A column came to set fire to the village. They entered from the side of Shwe Ka Zaung. They started from the houses near the monastery in the north of the village,” said a local.
A woman from Thaphan Zin village was killed by a shell fired by the junta troops on January 10th.
