According to a source on the ground, an explosion occurred inside the Arakan Army (AA) camp near Laiza, Kachin State, where the KIO headquarters is located, due to the firing of SAC troops, killing an AA officer at the rank of captain and injuring others.
Yesterday (September 28th), at around 10:00 am, the SAC troops stationed in Hkayan Moutain fired a 120 mm mortar heavy weapon into the AA Mone Lai Khat camp in Laiza Town without a fight.
“There was no fighting near the camp. The heavy weapon shell fired by the army fell into Mone Lai Khat. An AA captain was hit. He died while receiving treatment and others were injured,” said a person close to the Arakan Army.
Earlier today (September 29), a person from Laiza told MPA that they heard heavy weapon fire between the SAC Army and the revolutionary forces near Laiza.
“They have been fighting since 6:00 in the morning. We can hear it until the afternoon. On the Nam Sam Yang side, battles never stop. If the SAC Army suffers a lot, they shoot heavy weapons at this side,” he said.
AA temporary bases are also located near Laiza Town, and AA military bases are also spread on the Nam Sam Yang front line.
Last November 19, 2014, the SAC Army attacked a cadet training school in the KIA headquarters with heavy weapons, killing 23 cadets, including 8 cadets from the Arakan Army (AA).
