A local news source reported that a woman was hit by a bullet and killed due to heavy weapon fired by the SAC military in Mu Mandalay village, Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region.
On August 21, at around 8:00 a.m., a SAC column of 100 strong troops that had reached Nyaungpinshae village in Sagaing Township fired 3 heavy weapons into Mu Mandalay village, causing a woman killed.
“Yesterday (August 20), it was known that the column that left Nyaungpinwon reached Nyaungpinshae Cemetery in the evening. In the evening, Mu Mandalay village was hit with a large weapon, and all the people of the village had fled into the forest. In this morning, the villagers returned saying that the column had folded back. In there, the column didn’t retreat and fired 3 heavy weapons in a row and the shell fell near the girl who was taking a bath, causing her legs broken and her hip opened. She was sent to the hospital, but she was killed on the way,” a resident of Mu Mandalay told MPA.
The woman killed due to the heavy weapon fired by the SAC is Ma May Thingyan, a 22-year-old. In the past, 3 people were killed due to the SAC military entered and fired into the village.
“The column has entered the village 3 times. Many times, we had to flee because of patrolling by the SAC. In this time, they did not cross the west bank of the Mu River. The Mu River is also rising. Now, the column has patrolled to the east side of Sartaung,” the resident continued.
Mu Mandalay village is a village with about 300 houses, and on July 17, it was found that about 80 houses were burnt to arson due to the SAC military had patrolled and burned down the village.
