It is reported that a mentally ill man from Nyaung Zin Gyi Village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region was killed and set on fire by the SAC troops.
On the afternoon of March 23rd, when the Military and Pyu Saw Htee (militias of the SAC) entered Nyang Zin Gyi village on the south side of Kanbalu Township, Htangon Circle, they shot and burned Tun Min Oo (about 37 years old), a mentally ill person, and set him on fire in his house.
It is reported that Ko Tun Min has only a mother and that his mother also suffers from mental health problems at times.
“They didn’t do anything his mother,” a local told Infinity Group.
It is reported that the SAC troops looted public valuables including one SKAT vehicle from Nyang Zin Gyi village.
“When people hear the news that the Military is coming, they all run away. The daily work of our villagers is to listen to which side the Military is coming in. When they come suddenly, those who can’t run are in trouble. Now they are killing even the person who is mentally ill. Anyone who is caught by military dogs (soldiers) is likely to die even if they are ordinary civilians,” said a displaced person from the Kotaungbo village, Kanbalu Township.
According to Infinity Group, after the SAC troops set fire to the Nyaung Zin Gyi village and continued towards the Nyaung Zin village, villagers entered the village and while they were putting out the fire, the SAC troops opened fire with heavy weapons, and small arms, so they ran away from the village again.
By the time the fire was extinguished in the afternoon, about 30 houses were already on fire, and the fire was still burning until 9:30 at night.
“I still don’t know the situation this morning. I don’t know how many houses were burned,” said, a villager who fled the war in Ko Taung Bo.
The SAC troops have been entering the villages of Htangone Circle since March 22nd, and on the afternoon of March 22nd, 30 cows, various motorcycles, one SKAT vehicle (dump truck), and other valuable equipment were looted by two SKAT vehicles from Supokekone village, according to the Infinity Group.
