It has been reported that a Rohingya village administrator and a Chakkama village administrator from Buthidaung Township in Rakhine State were arrested under the pretext of holding a meeting by Buthidaung-based strategy force of the terrorist military.
The terrorist SAC’s strategy force was to summon and arrest the two administrators on September 3, and they have not had any contact with their family members till today.
”They are calling the administrators because they are going to have a meeting. When we arrived, we were checked and our phones were checked. And those two administrators have been arrested,” a village administrator, who did not wish to be named, told the MPA.
He said that Tat Min Chaung village administrator U U Kyaw Hla and Mee Chaung Zay village administrator Amin Hu Saung have been detained for more than a week without release, and some other village administrators are also worried.
”They are related to AA. They said that they had made contact with AA. If they find out they are in contact with AA, they threaten to arrest them and put them in jail,” a village administrator, who did not wish to be named, told the MPA.
To that strategy force, 12 village administrators from 12 villages; Nan Rakai, Pyin Shay, San Nying Wai, Tat Min Chaung, Long Chaung, Nga Kyi Tauk, Mee Chaung Khaung Swae, Padana, Inn Chaung, Thayet Kin Manu, Mee Chaung Zay,Dar Paing Sayar, were called to hold a meeting. Among them, two village administrators were arrested, village administrators and residents confirmed.
“The strategy is to call the meeting, of course. We don’t know exactly how many people were arrested,” an official from Buthidaung Township General Administration Office told the MPA.
The village administrators also said that the Township General Administration Office should be held accountable for arresting people on the pretext of a meeting without notifying the Township General Administration Office.
”We were appointed by the township general administration department, so they should be in charge. Now the military is calling and arresting us as they want, so in the future who will dare to do it?”, a Rohingya village administrator said.
Last year, during the rainy season, the village administrators also explained that the terrorist military summoned the village administrators of Buthidaung Township, they had been forced to not be involved with AA and to give news about AA activities.
Buthidaung Township is part of Maungdaw District, and fighting between the Arakan Army (AA) and the terrorist military is fierce in the northern part of Maungdaw. Residents said some village administrators in Maungdaw Township have also been arrested and prosecuted by the terrorist military and summoned and threatened.
