It is reported that around 20,000 local residents have been forced to evacuate in an emergency due to the raid of massive junta troops in Salingyi and Yinmapin townships,Sagaing Region.
From March 22nd until today (April 8th), they have been avoiding from the junta column for 17 days.
“The column has about 300 forces. Currently, there are still no war crimes committed by them. The column is going in and out of each village. 60 or more troops are stationed in each village,” Thet Oo, the information officer of the Sagaing People’s Support Network, told MPA.
The villages that have to be evacuated in an emergency are: Kangone village on the north side of Sarlingyi Township with 4300 people; Donetaw village with 2000; Gonetaw village with 1700; Ywathar village with 1,600; Bain Nwe Chaung village in the eastern part of Yinmapin Township with 1,500; Kyay Sar Kya village with 1,550; Paekone village with 450; Htan Taw Gyi village with 4,200; Ye Kyipin village (the old village) with 1,000; Ywa Thit village with 250; and Mya Yeik Village with 1,800 people.
“We have been displaced for a long time. No village can feed us for a long time. There are no IDP camps either. The army is also hunting down us . We are running around to stay alive. Others feed us, we run, and we live like that, said a villager in Kankone.
According to the Sagaing People’s Support Network, rice, oil, medicine, basic foodstuffs, vegetables, shelters, fuel and flashlights are needed for those who avoid the junta column.
