According the investigation until 8th April, due to the Shwe Kokoe Ko battle in the north of Myawaddy, the number of displaced people has increased to around 10,000 people who have fled to Mae Sot and Mon Ramek in the Thai border.
Since the morning of last April 5, due to the fighting between the Border Guard Force (BGF) near Htikaw Htaw village which is 6 miles north of the new Shwe Kokoe Ko town, the military troops of the SAC and the KNLA joint forces, the locals crossed the Thaungyin River and fled to Waykalote (Khwekalote) and Wanfa villages in Thailand border.
“The friends from the Kyakpha said that they were scared and afraid. Some of them fled to Thailand. They said they posted on Facebook. They heard the sound of a plane coming in the afternoon. Those who are currently living in Myawaddy town are still walking around peacefully,” said by a resident of Myawaddy.
It is reported that the Thailand authorities and Thai locals have placed the refugees who have fled to the Thai side in cattle ranches and rubber yards close to the Thaungyin River. Until now, the displaced people have continued to increase.
A person helping refugees told MPA that we need help for refugees. We are in need of emergency food, water, clothes blanket and other humanitarian aid for them.
It is known from an official of Thai authorities that donations can be made through Mae Sot township office and Monramec township office and Thai soldiers from the gate where war refugees are located.
Currently, the Thailand authorities are in discussions with international organizations in order to help the people fleeing the war from Myanmar and to act for the security of Thailand.
