The international community’s approach to Myanmar, with its many methods, has not seen any significant activity yet, as if it were drawing toys on water.
Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Nay Pyi Taw in the evening of April 23rd. He met with the Military leaders on April 24th.Mr. Ban Ki-moon requested for an immediate end to the violence and for the military of the SAC to take the first step. In addition, Mr. Ban Ki-moon stressed the importance of the participation of all, including the NUG government, to achieve a sustainable solution, as well as the urgent implementation of the five points consensus of ASEAN Common Agreements and the UN Security Council’s Myanmar Resolution-2669.
It is not yet known how the Military leaders responded to Mr. Ban Ki-moon’s statements, but on April 24, the SAC Military carried out airstrikes 9 times in Tigyaing township, Sagaing Region.
Moreover, after Mr. Ban Ki-moon returned from Nay Pyi Taw less than a day later, in the afternoon of April 25th, the Air Force of the SAC Military bombed and attacked Song Phwe Village’s Hospital in Pekon Township, Shan State.
Continuously, Qin Gang, the Chinese Foreign Minister, came to Nay Pyi Taw again on May 2nd. Min Aung Hlaing and Qin Gang shook hands with laughter and smiles. The Chinese Government has once again imagined a way to solve the Myanmar issue that does not consider the will of the people and the democracy of Myanmar, that the military of the SAC also held an election as well as the NLD party is also re-entering the election.
Immediately, the SAC military released 2,153 political prisoners imprisoned under Section 505(a) on May 3rd. During the failed coup of the SAC, there was never a single release of more than 2,000 political prisoners. Therefore, it has to keep a close watch if the Chinese medicine for Myanmar issue is effective.
However, on the day of the release, only political prisoners who were about to be released from Article 505(a) were released. That’s why, we had to make a clear remark that the SAC military had not broken its traditional characteristics.
What is even worse than this, is that there were not 2,153 people who were actually released on May 3rd. Those who had already been released were also added to the list of release on May 3rd. They said they would release more than 100 political prisoners in Mandalay Prison, but they did not actually release them after they were brought to the prison gate. According to information of the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), the release of more than 2,100 political prisoners is not really true. Therefore, it is obvious that the SAC military’s release is just a lie to make its image be good in the international communities.
If we look at the daily violence of the SAC, the SAC military troops commit as usual, entering and invading the villages to loot villagers’ properties, to burn down people’s houses and kill people. In addition, on May 11th, the military troops burned down the houses in the quarters of Chaung-U town, signaling that they do not hesitate to holocaust the cities.
On May 10th, another crime committed by the SAC Military, which is no longer a mystery for the SAC, was the massacre and burning of 18 villagers of Nyang Ping Thar in Htantabin Township, Bago Region, after those villagers were blindfolded and fleeced.
The fact that the SAC can’t be gently coaxed or intimidated, killing the people arbitrarily and violently in order to gain power, proves that the international community’s approach to the Myanmar issue is in incorrect approach.
The people of Myanmar themselves believe that the international communities are imagining and hoping the day when the dictatorship’s leaders of the SAC will get their good-minded consciousness, as well as the international community’s unorganized and ineffective responses and statements are forcing the dictatorship’s leaders of the SAC to live longer.
