The country’s economy, which has been down gradually since February 2021, when the coup took over, went uncontrollably upside down in a frenzy in mid-2022, and now seems to have calmed down at a boiling point.
Now, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which can become a strategic impetus for the Myanmar Spring Revolution, has been approved by both houses of the United States and is likely to be signed by President Biden before the end of this year.
The NDAA bill includes the Burma Unified Through Rigorous Military Accountability Act of 2021, also known as the Burma Act. According to experts, the Burma Act is mainly aimed at supporting the Spring Revolution and establishing more effective sanctions against the SAC, and Myanmar’s oil and natural gas industry, which is the main source of dollars for the SAC, will definitely be included in the US sanctions, experts said.
In such a situation, as soon as President Biden signs the NDAA bill, Myanmar’s economy, which has been allowed to take a break for a while, is likely to turn upside down again at a speed similar to that of the time of SAC.
The country’s economy which is upside down turning will not be taken seriously by the SAC, which does not care about the people, tramples the country down, and is only hungry for power, but it will surely go It is very, very good to make the SAC mad and we welcome it very much, but we should not forget the people who will be affected by the severe economic collapse.
As the NUG headed by the Spring Revolution Front, which has no government power, it is impossible to support the economic problem that will affect all the people of Myanmar, but there is a reason to support the people who are facing the worst situation if they are properly and systematically prepared in advance.
The people facing the worst situation are those fleeing the war who have no international support at all. To make it more visible in detail, it is the lives of people who have no shelter or food because of the arsons of the SAC troops.
Data for Myanmar, which is researching public houses burned by the SAC troops, says that 38,383 public houses have been burned as of November 30, 2022. If we add those burned in the month of December, there will definitely be 40,000 houses burned.
The houses that were burned are in Sagaing and Magway regions, where constantly flowed with revolutionary tides, and all the revolutionary forces in these areas are fighting with the money funded by the people. The revolutionary forces that used to rely on the locals are now carrying on their shoulders as much as they can for the people who were affected by the arsons of the military.
If the country’s economy worsens, the daily living problems of the displaced people can grow up, and if the revolutionary forces continue to share their efforts for them, there is a possibility that the tide of revolution will decline.
Therefore, the MPA would urge that the National Unity Government should open a channel and prepare in advance a list of people to be supported, and access to international aid or funding through various means to support the displaced people.
