According to the commander of the Dawna column, the SAC checkpoint on the Myawaddy-Kawkariek Asia Highway in Kayin State, was attacked by the Dawna column and the KNLA allied joint force.
“On October 11, at around 3:30 p.m., a military target was identified and fired with 338 sniper bullets and 40 mm grenade launchers, causing 4 soldiers from the SAC killed and many injured,” he said.
“The 338 sniper fired 4 rounds. 2 soldiers were killed. We were shooting with Skoda Scots, so we witnessed the death of 2 people from their side. Another 40 shots were fired, a soldier was killed, and many were injured,” said the platoon commander of the Dawna column.
It is reported that there are about 20 soldiers of the Battalion201 under the SAC Division 22 at the gate, and it is a gate that collects tolls from travelers passing through the Asian Highway.
“Before, we shot soldiers stationed at the swimming pool and their outpost gates. The main thing was to make them feel insecure that our revolutionary groups could harm them in any situation,” he continued.
During this operation, the SAC military shot back with heavy weapons (81 mm), mechanical hand and MA small arms, the PDF joint forces were able to retreat without being harmed.
“To carry out the mission, we had to go through the mountains and forests for 4 hours from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm that day. To achieve a situation where we could attack the enemy closely,” said Ko Yan Naing, the operations commander of the Dawna column.
On August 28, the Dawna column and joint forces attacked with heavy weapons the SAC troops who were holding a meeting at the city hall in Kawkerik city, Kayin State.
In addition, it was announced on October 4 that the Dawna column moved to Mon State and Tanintharyi according to operational requirements and cooperated with local allies in the new area to carry out seven effective military operations within three months.
