The Immigration staffs under the SAC Military in Maungdaw District confirmed that among people arrested by the SAC Military in various parts of Myanmar, 400 Rohingya were sent back to Maungdaw District on 3rd February yesterday.
Among these Rohingyas, 258 from Maungdaw Township and 129 from Buthidaung Township, are included.
“ They were sent back after checking the place and address they told when they were arrested, and those who are right were sent back like this way”, an Immigration staff in Maungdaw District told MPA.
Those Rohingya was brought back to Sittwe in Rakhine State and kept there, and on 3rd February, they were delivered to Buthidaung town through Sittwe by two Aung Takhoon ships yesterday.
The SAC Military staff said that after being rechecked at the Buthidaung port, the Rohingya from Maungdaw Township were taken by seven trucks and transported back to Maungdaw town.
A Rohingya from Maungdaw town told MPA that
this is an open-air prison, so they had risked their lives to go to another region, by risking everything. When they were arrested and sent back to prison, they came back to prison again.
The Rohingya from Rakhine State are considered as illegal citizens and their travel rights are restricted by law. If they were arrested, they will be prosecuted and sentenced to prison under the Immigration laws.
The Rohingya people said that many Rohingya have fled from Rakhine state since the Military coup and have been arrested and killed along the way.
“Among those who leave their residential places, pregnant women, children and elderly people are also included. Despite those are facing food shortages and were being arrested and killed by the SAC Military on the way, the exodus is being continued,” the Rohingya said.
