Eagle Guerrilla Force, Battalion-15 of Shwebo District reported that the local revolutionary forces intercepted the column coming out of Wetlet Town, Sagaing Region, and killed a lieutenant.
On June 1st, at about 8:32 in the morning, a 60-soldier infantry column that came out of patrolling in an ambush near the nunnery in Wetlet town, while taking a short break in Tharai Village, was attacked by a drone by dropping two mortar bombs, 7 rounds of 60mm and 4 rounds of 90 mm.
“The dogs (soldiers) didn’t go line up. One group in front and one group in the back were separated. The soldiers from the east group were bombed with a drone when they were under a tree near Tharai village. One soldier was hit there. We shot the group behind them with large weapons and they shot us back. We also chased them with small arms,” said Kauk Yoe, the commander of Eagle Guerrilla Force, Battalion-15 of Shwe Bo District.
It is reported that the lieutenant who was injured by the attack was taken to Khin Mon village and died while receiving medical treatment, so he was burned in Khin Mon village.
“The body was burned near the monastery. It is the lieutenant for sure. I could hear what they were talking about it,” said a local.
The attack was led by Eagle Guerrilla Force of Battalion-15 of Shwe Bo District, Shwe Bo District Battalion-15 Company (1), Kaung Kin Revolutionary Force (Pyin Oo Lwin District Battalion-1), Taw Gyi Myay Pway and Battalion-17 of Shwe Bo District.
