Women of all ages from various townships and villages were among the mass uprisings across Myanmar following the February 1st unjust power takeover.
In the masses of women are the ageing elderly women, women from all walks of life participating in the revolution from their respective roles; and young girls who don’t stay in the backline of the protests just because they are female but in the frontline regardless of the sound bombs, tear gases and live ammunition from the military regime can be seen as well.
There are also young women who have left cities since the military coup and gone to ethnic areas to take military trainings.
In PDF military trainings, the young women had to try very seriously hard to change both of their physical and mental challenges in a short time in order to eradicate the terrorist military with a strong belief, said the majority of the women taking the trainings.
“To kill one terrorist military soldier, we had to work very hard within three months. Since the first week of arrival, we had to try to eat what those who were able to regularly run PT ate. It’s only because of a strong spirit that we train on toughness to try to equally take trainings with men”, a woman soldier talked about her challenges in the training.
As the PDF women soldiers are equipped with guns at all times, they have to keep the guns with themselves always and if it’s lost or forgotten, there are penalties.
“When taking military training with women, there’s no more men and women – they’re all soldiers. In training, they are all comrades”, one PDF soldier talked about his experience in the training session.
In one military training, there are at least 25% of women and after the training is over, they go back to their respective places and go on service, said a trainer.
After taking PDF military trainings in ethnic areas, women such as students, doctors, nurses, youth entrepreneurs and staffs from all walks of life are on service working in the frontline alongside men.
