On May 26, at 9:30 a.m., three local residents were killed, and three others injured in Aung Myin (Shaukpin) village when the 50th Infantry Battalion based in Gangaw, Magway Region, fired 120mm howitzers.
According to a local woman of Pyar village near Aung Myin Village, Aung Myin (Shauk Pin) village is located about one mile southwest of Gangaw Town on the Gangaw-Htilin Road. The military junta shelled twice without any military movement or battle.
“There was no fighting. They just shot around. The shells hit on two houses on the south-north side of the road, near Shaukpin Bridge. Two sisters were killed on the south side of the road. One person was killed at a house on the north side of the road. The houses were also damaged,” she told MPA.
The deceased have been identified as a 50-year-old man named Tin Cho, a 30-year-old woman named Pay Tay and a 23-year-old woman named Nandar Myint. Three people, including an 8-month-old baby, were injured.
“They (the junta army) fire heavy weapons arbitrarily. These days, they don’t move around. Now people are saying that they shelled because there are PDF movements,” explained a local man from Zarhaw Village, west of Gangaw.
According to locals, those who died due to shelling by Junta troops were properly buried in the afternoon on May 26th.
