It is reported that the military council troops are going round and burning the villages in the area of Yaelakyun of Yesagyo township, Magway Region, so the residents are selling the agricultural products quickly.
Since around 6:00 am of May 26, about 200 forces arrived, crossing the Chindwin River and the Irrawaddy River on both sides, and divided into 4 columns. Mi Phara Village, Laykhote Village, Chanywa Village, Nweni Village and Sinte Village (North Village) were fired with heavy weapons and burned down by these columns.
“We have to sell the little ones that were left to be not damaged during the Mokha storm. If we don’t sell them, the war dogs (SAC) will burn wherever they see, so we have to sell them at risk because we are worry that the little ones will be destroyed,” said a Yaelakyun resident.
It is reported that the mung and urad beans are around 55,000 kyats per basket, corn is 10,000 kyats per pound and sesame is 80,000 to 100,000 kyats per basket.
Currently, these prices are the market price and they have to go to the representatives of sale center in villages far from the military column, to sell their products.
From the 12th to 14th of May, due to continuous rain, the farms of more than 40 villages in area of Yaelakyun, such as mung beans, sesame and urad beans, were flooded and the crops were damaged.
