Military junta forces set fire to Kyauk Sauk village in Myaing Township, Magway Region, resulting in the death of a 100-year-old woman.
A military junta column of approximately 180 troops set fire to Kyauk Sauk village in Myaing Township on Wednesday at around 9:40 a.m., according to a local military source.
“The column arrived in the village on Tuesday night and set fire to it the next morning. The villagers fled, but it seems the elderly woman was unable to escape because of her age,” the source told MPA.
The source also reported that three unidentified bodies were found burned near the Kyauk Sauk village monastery, next to the asphalt road.
“We don’t know for certain whether they killed and burned captured individuals or if they burned their own soldiers who died in the fighting,” the source added.
Approximately 50 houses in Kyauk Sauk village were destroyed in the fire.
Meanwhile, the MVP Revolution Force reported that clashes erupted twice on Tuesday between the military junta column and resistance forces between Htan Nge Taw and Sa Bay villages in Myaing Township.
