The Rangoon Scout Network has announced that a list of women selected for military service has been posted at the administrative office of No. 7 Ward (East) in Thaketa Township, a suburban area of Yangon.
The list reportedly includes the names of five women from the upper side of Street 4 on East Aung Zeya Road, No. 7 Ward (East), and fifteen women from the lower side of the same street.
A resident of No. 10 Ward (South) in Thaketa Township told MPA on Saturday afternoon, “It’s true that the list of women drafted for military service has been posted at the administrative office of No. 7 Ward (East). In addition, military summons letters in envelopes have been delivered directly to the homes of women listed.”
She added that summons letters for military service, reportedly issued by the relevant department, have been delivered in recent days to some women residing on Khaing Shwe Wah Street in No. 7 Ward (East) and No. 10 Ward (South) of Thaketa Township.
“I don’t know the exact details,” she said, “but the letters were not sent from the administrative office.”
According to the Rangoon Scout Network, lists of women eligible for military service—aged between 18 and 27—were compiled on Thursday in Shwekone Ward of Kyauktan Township, Bochauk Ward of Thanlyin Township, No. 4 Ward (South) of Thaketa Township, and along Maggin Street in Tamwe Township.
On the same day, the military junta approved the People’s Military Service Law, which mandates military service for non-CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) staff currently serving under the junta.
The Rangoon Scout Network, a social media platform supporting the Spring Revolution, specializes in gathering and reporting on-ground developments and significant events concerning the military junta’s activities in Yangon Region.
