The military council’s advanced training school, Ta Ta Ka 13, in Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region, has been under siege by resistance forces for nearly two months, according to reports.
Following the capture of Thabeikkyin town on 25 August, resistance forces continued their offensive against the remaining military camps in the area, including the siege ofTa Ta Ka 13, according to People Liberation Army (PLA).
“ Ta Ta Ka 13 has an estimated strength of between 500 and 1,000 troops. Soldiers retreated from Mogok strategic base, Moemeik Town, and Twin Nge Town have gathered there. Initially, the plan was to seizeTa Ta Ka 13 immediately after capturing Twin Nge Town, but there have been delays,” PLA General Secretary Comrade Ni Ni Kyaw told MPA.
Due to the ground blockade by resistance forces, supplies for Ta Ta Ka 13 have had to be delivered by air, while the military has been conducting aerial attacks against the resistance forces.
“There have not been any intense offensives recently. Although there was some fighting at the beginning, the situation has now quieted down. Ta Ta Ka 13 has Howitzer artillery and helicopter pads, and they have been providing artillery support toward the Kyauk Kyi camp. Since it is a heavily fortified camp, it will take time to capture,” she added.
Ta Ta Ka 13 is located between Twin Nge police station and Moemeik town, approximately seven miles from Thabeikkyin Town.
The camp is a strategically important military base for the military council, and despite being under siege, no soldiers have surrendered or expressed willingness to defect.
PLA and other resistance forces have held control of Twin Nge police station and Moemeik town since July.
The PLA continues to launch attacks on Ta Ta Ka 13 and other military bases in Thabeikkyin Township, including the camps at Seven Mile and Kyauk Kyi.
