The 10th Kayah Traditional Eddo Pomi Announcement has acknowledged that the current political framework of Karenni State is being implemented under a collective leadership system.
On 18 September, the Kayah Traditional Eddo Pomi Ceremony, a gathering of the Kayah people, was held at an undisclosed location in Karenni State, during which key decisions were made.
“The Eddo Pomi Announcement reflects significant progress in the political landscape of Karenni State, which we welcome,” remarked a local Kayah ethnic member who attended the ceremony.
The decision also emphasized that the Kayah people, alongside other ethnic groups, are committed to the reconstruction of Karenni State and the establishment of a federal democratic union, with a focus on equality and self-determination for ethnic nationalities.
The Eddo Pomi is highly regarded by the Kayah people and is considered a significant day of political, administrative, and cultural importance.
The Announcement also included a decision to initiate the process of creating a flag and emblem to represent the Kayah people.
